Phoenix, Arizona August 24, 2024 12:15PM It’s no secret that Arizona is a very important state when it comes to the 2024 election, just as it was in the previous election as well. Will the people show up and show out this year at the voting polls here? After spending time at the Kamala Harris and Timothy Walz rally on August 16th in Glendale and being able to watch the recent Trump rally, which was held at the same location, Desert Diamond Arena, it’s obvious these presidential candidates are highly invested in the Arizona voters. As a Battleground state, it makes so much sense, and Arizona can possibly play a big role in the deciding factor, and Arizonans are paying attention.

We all know every vote counts, and when speaking to Anshula Kulkarni, a naturized citizen whose family trekked from India in the early 70s, she likes to think of how much of a privilege it is to vote and make a difference. “My mom instilled in me that it’s important to exercise your right to vote” when interviewing Kulkarni via video. “I can remember in 2004 Bush Jr. vs John Kerry was my first presidential voting experience”. Having been born in India and migrating to America at the age of four, Kulkarni says she has little memory of that time, but remembers the stories her mother told her of India’s government ruling, and the divisiveness in the country during those times. Kulkarni goes into the excitement of how someone that carries a similar background as her and her family may become the first in many ways as our next president of the United States. “It’s exciting, and historical in so many ways that an Indian, black woman could be president.” With Arizona being such a prominent state in this upcoming election, she also says that no matter what your preference may be, just go vote. Period. A message that is so simple but will eventually determine who occupies the White House next. You can listen to our full interview with Kulkarni in the embedded audio on Soundcloud included with this article.
