Glendale, Arizona August 12, 2024, 11:59PM At approximately 1:30PM on Friday August 9, 2024, the doors swung open at Desert Diamond Arena, former home to the professional hockey team Arizona Coyotes, and the filling of Kamala Harris and Timothy Walz supporters began packing in, excited and showing their way of enthusiasm with signs and clothing wear.

According to the Arizona Mirror the event, that could easily hold 20,000, was at near capacity with over 15,000 supporters attending the 2.5 hour rally featuring visits by Arizona’s own state Senator from the democratic side Mark Kelly and his wife Gabrielle Giffords. Also attending were Tempe, Arizona mayor Corey D. Woods, and even Mesa Arizona’s own republican mayor John Giles . All there to root on and encourage everyone attending to spread the word and go vote in this year’s Presidential Election in November. Giffords, who suffered severe life altering injuries in a mass shooting In Tucson Arizona on January 8th of 2011, seemed in good spirits upon making a rare public appearance.

With so much support from the democratic side, John Giles made sure the audience knew who and what he supported in this year’s election. Explaining to the crowd he is still a republican, and loves his party, he also said that his decision to support Harris and Walz was an easy choice when choosing between the two parties currently seeking office. He explained to the crowd that he wants other republicans to join with him, especially the ones having a hard time choosing.

Timothy Walz found that the crowd was warm and pleasing to his presence, advising the crowd to call him “Coach” as he once was head coach for the football team and teacher at Mankato West High School, located in Mankato, Minnesota. Walz informed the crowd how amazing it was for the turnout, but he’s not counting the numbers until November.

Harris was able to explain her plans for future policies such as regulated and informed gun control that can bring a safer environment to the country. She also had plans to ban assault style rifles or weapons that frequently are used in criminal activities and mass shootings. While Harris was engaging with the crowd, she was slightly interrupted by three Pro-Palestinian Protesters shouting “free free free Palestine” towards the Vice President, who ignored them initially but then addressed them a simple answer of a cease fire is being worked on to end the violent conflict, right before the protestors were ushered out by a Harris volunteer. Overall it seemed as Harris and Walz did what they came to do, and that’s get the attention of the people of Arizona, a battleground state in the 2024 Presidential Election.
